Head Coach
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Diving Coach to join Shamrock Diving Club. The Diving Coach will play a crucial role in developing individual performance goals and plans for each diver and submitting monthly lesson plans for both dryland and pool diving time.
Position Overview
As Head Coach, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development and performance of our divers and assistant coaches. You will be responsible for designing and delivering both competitive and non-competitive training programmes, supporting athlete progression across multiple squads, and contributing to the overall success of the club. The role requires strong leadership, a passion for diving, and the ability to support athletes in reaching their full potential.
This role is for up to 30 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation:
Develop and implement individual performance goals for various age groups and skill levels, and create monthly lesson plans for pool and dry-land training.
Optimise the pool and dry-land time to ensure the most effective use of the facilities.
Produce an annual competition programme that supports the development of all competitive club members.
• Coaching and Athlete Development:
Monitor and evaluate diver progress, providing individualized feedback, guidance, and adjustments to training as needed
Lead and mentor the Assistant Coaches, ensuring consistently high standards of coaching
Foster a positive and inclusive club environment that promotes personal growth, sportsmanship, and a strong work ethic
Competition and Event Management:
Plan and coordinate athlete participation and selection for competitions
Set clear competition goals and communicate targets to athletes and parents
Attend competitions at all levels, providing on-deck coaching support and undertake judging duties as required
Qualifications and Skills
• Education and Certification:
Swim Ireland Level 2 Coaching Certificate for Diving (or recognised international equivalent)
Valid Swim Ireland / Sport Ireland Safeguarding Level 1 Certificate Valid An Garda Síochána National Vetting Certification with Swim Ireland credentials
• Experience:
Coaching experience at competition level, with a proven track record
Experience in a leadership role, managing teams and working with athletes of varying ages and abilities
Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations related to diving and dry-land training
• Skills:
Strong understanding of diving techniques and training methods
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Ability to motivate and inspire athletes and Assistant Coaches
