Part Time Assistant Coaches

Position Overview

As an Assistant Coach, the successful candidate will support the Head Coach in delivering a comprehensive and effective diving programme. This includes assisting with the preparation of monthly lesson plans for pool and dry-land training sessions, supporting the implementation of performance goals for divers, and contributing to a positive and engaging training environment.

The role involves working with athletes across a range of ages and abilities, fostering their development, encouraging participation, and promoting a strong culture of teamwork, commitment, and sportsmanship within the club.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Development and Implementation:

  • Assist in developing and implementing individual performance goals for various age groups and skill levels and help to create and submit monthly lesson plans for pool and dryland training sessions

  • Optimise the Pool / Dry-land time to ensure the most effective use of the facilities

  • Assist in producing an annual competition programme that includes and develops all competitive club members

• Coaching and Athlete Development:

  • Monitor and evaluate diver progress, providing individualised feedback, guidance, and adjustment to training, as needed

  • Support the Head Coach in creating and reviewing a long-term strategic plan for competitive diving, ensuring the plan is progressive and sustainable

  • Foster a positive and inclusive club and team environment that encourages personal growth, good sportsmanship and a strong work ethic

• Competition and Event Management:

  • Help to plan and coordinate participation and selection of athletes for competitions

  • Support setting competition goals and targets to athletes and parents

  • Assist in selecting athlete’s dive lists for competitions

  • Attend diving competitions at all levels, providing on-deck coaching support to athletes and undertake judging duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

• Education and Certification:

  • Swim Ireland Level 1 or Level 2 Coaching Certificate for Diving or recognised international equivalent

  • Valid Swim Ireland / Sport Ireland Safeguarding Level 1 Certificate

  • Valid An Garda Síochána National Vetting Certification with Swim Ireland credentials

• Experience:

  • Previous coaching experience is desirable, but not essential

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and Swim Ireland’s safeguarding policy related to diving and dry-land training

• Skills

  • Strong understanding of diving techniques and training methods

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & organisational skills

  • Ability to motivate and inspire athletes
